The Fremantle Fishing Boat Traders Group is thrilled to announce the hugely successful WA Day Festival returns to the world renown Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour on Sunday 2 June 2019!
‘A Good Day in WA’ will be a day of celebration of Western Australian community. A day to come together to celebrate, share and value cultural diversity. The festival will be a cultural explosion recognising our Aboriginal history, our early European migrant background and the diverse range of people from all over the world who have made, and continue to make, Freo and WA their home.
Local Aboriginal elders will open the event on June 2 with a traditional smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by a range of cultural music and dance events from different ethnic backgrounds. A corrobee will take place on Bathers Beach later in the day.
Across the weekend there will be numerous musical and dance performances in and around the harbour from various cultures highlighting the diverse background of WA’s residents. The festival will culminate with a dazzling lights and pyrotechnic display at the family-friendly time of 6pm Sunday.
